Mike Adams - Head of Legal and Commercial Affairs
Mike's role focuses on legal and business affairs and commercial interests for the company’s full slate of television drama, factual, kids and factual entertainment, as well as feature films.
Mike has been subcontracted to Essential from Barnett Law, a Sydney based law firm he joined as a Director early 2016 following his departure from the See-Saw Films group where, since 2009, he worked as Corporate Counsel & Business Affairs Manager. There he provided support to production activities while focusing primarily on Fulcrum Media Finance’s lending operations and oversaw the negotiation and contracting of numerous film and television projects.
Cathrine McVeigh - Head of Production
As Head of Production, Cathrine oversees Essential’s production slate. She is an experienced financial analyst who brings to Essential Media a comprehensive understanding of production workflows and project management.
Cathrine was previously Production Supervisor at the ABC, where she oversaw hundreds of hours of production, both in the field and in the studio. Credits include Play School, Giggle and Hoot, The Book Club and At The Movies and has worked across multiple networks and platforms including SBS’s Fat Pizza, Channel 7’s Where are they Now? and All Saints.
Aline Jacques - Supervising Producer (Factual)
Aline is an award winning producer who has delivered numerous factual programs across various genres for the worlds major broadcasters. Credits include Connected – The Power of Six Degrees for the BBC, ABC and Science Channel, recipient of the Eureka Award for Excellence in Science Journalism, while the documentary Race For The Beach for BBC and SBS received an Amnesty International Broadcasters Award. Aline was the development producer on the AFI Award for Documentary You Only Live Twice – The Incredibly True Story of the Hughes Family.
As Supervising Producer, Factual at Essential Media, her producing credits include the feature documentary Why Anzac with Sam Neill for ABC and TVNZ, the 3 part series The Great Australian Race Riot for SBS and lifestyle programs Shane Delia's Spice Journey and Gourmet Farmer, also for SBS. Aline is currently overseeing production on The Living Universe for Curiosity Channel, ABC and Arte.
Josh Martin - Supervising Producer (Lifestyle)
As Supervising Producer of Food and Lifestyle, Josh produces such programs as SBS’s number one food program, Gourmet Farmer, the multi-platform Dan Hong’s #Shelfie for ABC, and the upcoming 3-part documentary series for SBS For the Love of Meat.
Josh has directed and produced some of SBS’s most popular food and travel series, such as Mexican Fiesta with Peter Kuruvita, Island Feast with Peter Kuruvita, Shane Delia’s Spice Journey and Gourmet Farmer Afloat.
Prior to this, Josh worked in the entertainment genre as a shooter producer at FLY TV (now ABC2), the ABC, Nine Network and as Supervising Producer at Channel [V] where he oversaw hundreds of hours of content ranging from documentaries, game shows, large scale OB’s, and live studio shows.
Denise Anderson - Associate Producer and Head of Marketing
Denise works across Essential's complete slate, dealing with development, financing and distribution as well as overseeing marketing and publicity.
She brings a wealth of international experience having held business affairs and marketing roles in France with Studio Canal + and Luc Besson's EuropaCorp, and Buena Vista International in the US. Denise was also a film programmer for Cinema Science - an annual film festival held in Bordeaux and continues to manage the Festival du Cinéma des Antipodes, held in France annually.
Rachael Turk - Development Producer (Scripted)
Rachael is a co-creator of the drama series The Principal and producer of sit-com Future Boy. She has worked on Rake series 3 and 4, and the Jack Irish series, amongst many other scripted projects in development.
Prior to joining Essential, Rachael was Development Executive (Drama) for Southern Star Entertainment where she has worked on the genesis of shows such as Puberty Blues, Howzat! Kerry Packer’s War, Paper Giants: The Birth of Cleo and its sequel Magazine Wars, Wild Life, Wild Boys, Spirited 2 and Gallipoli.
Rachael is the former editor of Inside Film and has freelanced for The Sydney Morning Herald, Screenhub.com, Artlines, In Camera and British Cinematographer. She has served on the international juries for the Venice, London and Sydney Film Festivals. She ran the weekly AFTRS Q&A Friday On My Mind is also an award-winning writer/director/producer whose first short film script Smile For Me won an Australian Writers Guild (AWGIE) Award.
Roger Monk - Development Producer (Qld)
Roger is an award-winning screen entertainment writer who heads up Essential Media's Brisbane office. Roger won the Australian Film Institute, Independent Film and Critics Circle awards for best script for the feature film Walking On Water (2002). It also won the Teddy award and Siegessaule prize at the 2002 Berlin Film Festival and special mention at BIFF. More recently Roger wrote episodes for the multi award-winning and Emmy nominated Nowhere Boys. His pilot episode was nominated for an AWGIE Award. Roger was a writer on The Doctor Blake Mysteries S3 and co-creator and writer of East of Everything. Other TV credits include: Dance Academyand The Secret Life of Us. His script for the series Love Bytes (Fox Aust & UK Shine) was nominated for a QLD Premiers Award.
